This is My Friday

I wanna just get this really brief rant off my chest:
I farking hate it when a kid’s parent gets mad at me for crap that was totally within their control at a certain point, but because the kid is an idiot, now they’re in a world of shit. Do me a favor and get mad at your stupid kid. Cuz that’s the person who messed up.

Right, so… other than that, it’s Friday.

I also made a call today to the cable company, because my RoadRunner? email address had stopped working, and it was confirmed that the person who moved my service for me didn’t do it exactly the right way. All is well now, and it turns out I’ll get to watch the Brewers on TV until the end of the season. So that’ll be nice.

I’m going to another game tomorrow, in addition to attending a party at Grandma’s house. So those things will be fun. Maybe I’ll get in a fight with a Cubs fan. Man, I really hate the Cubs. And the amazing thing is, the Crew hasn’t even been in the NL for 10 years yet. Doesn’t matter. Chicago. Hatred. It goes hand-in-hand.

I also spent some quality time on the p-hone with my lady this evening, and we did some more planning of our summer vacation (on the calendar for July 22-31). We’re doing a western National Park tour and stopping off in Nebraska and Bozeman, too. I’m really looking forward to it. A lot. The only thing I’m nervous about is, well, wait– two things I guess– I’m nervous that I might wanna do so much stuff that I don’t relax enough and end up acting like kind of a schedule-driving dick, and I’m also nervous that Michelle might not be good enough at driving my car in time.

I can’t believe this trip is only two weeks away, too. Crap-tastic. Have you seen all the stuff laying around my apartment? I kinda need to clean this stuff up before I leave. Maybe I can do that next weekend…

So the Brewers are down 4-1 right now, with two out in the bottom of the 7th. I know they’ve come back a lot this year, but this doesn’t look very good today. I’m gonna finish watching it, though.

Might have some new pics posted soon, so look for those.

Other Items Worthy of Note

Hope you had a nice 4th. Mine was dandy, per usual. Went to Veterans Park for the fireworks on 7/3, went to see the Brewers on 7/4.

Michelle came up earlier in the weekend and helped me unpack some stuff around the house, among other things. I should probably get the bills paid for this month so I know exactly where I’m at in advance of leaving for Montana at the end of July.

Did I mention I was going to Montana at the end of July? Anyone I should say ‘hi’ to?

Oh, and did I mention that I moved? Thanks to all those who helped, particularly Joe, for the use of the Jeep and whatnot.

I will post some pics of the new digs once it’s a bit more “put together.” Meanwhile, if you had a key to the crib before, you are welcome to pick up a new one…

Next and finally: I am going to make a concerted effort to post daily for the foreseeable future. Stop back in a week to check on my progress.

Wil,

OK– So I can handle not getting an extra life until 2000 points (you barely even need it then, really), but what I wanna know is this: how can one not be fucking sick of this game by then??

Also: do you think that the inevitability of losing is meant to reflect the Rebels’ futile mission to protect Echo Base against such an awesome show of firepower from the Imperial forces?

Have a good weekend,
Jason

PS – What’s your all-time high score on ‘Empire’?

Authentication

I often have to type my password for this site more than once. Today, not. Saved me 3 and a half seconds…

I also got ‘authenticated’ for my new apartment last night. I thought I would be able to start moving stuff over right away, but the landlord had some things to finish up. The dude seems like a really nice, smart, easy-to-get-along-with sorta guy, but y’know, if you were gonna tell me I could get into the apartment early, then for chrissakes let me actually get in there early. If not, no sweat, but then just let me know what’s up…

It seems to me that he is the single owner, administrator, and maintenance person for a lot of properties on that block, so I can understand having a lot on one’s plate. Still, like I was saying above…

So I’m antsy to get that mattress out of the jeep so I can see as I drive down to Milton for the annual mad croquet action happening at 17 W Madison Ave. It’s sure to be a good time, as usual…

Don’t let me forget my camera or my baseball glove. Thanks.

D.C.

I’m in Door County right now at a conference for work… it’s nice to be outta the office and stuff, but also no complaints about the quality of the material we’re covering; it’s a “leadership” retreat, and I’ve gained some useful knowledge today. Just hoping I can make use of it back in the office.

In other news, it’s good to see the Crew string a couple wins together. If they can just win 9 or 11 more in a row, they’ll be back where they shoulda-woulda-coulda been if they hadn’t suct so much over the past week or so.

Oh, and speaking of that (this is pretty cool), Devin called me and his cousin got drafted by the Brewers.

I’ll be up in MI over the weekend for Joey & April’s wedding. I realized yesterday that I still don’t really have clothes to wear. I’m gonna have to do some emergency shopping when I get back home on Thursday.

Ah crap, bout time for dinner, so I better jet.

Some of This Week's Items

1. I can never date, work with, or be otherwise associated with a person named “Roxanne.” Inevitably, I just start singing the Police song, and then my day is over (you’re doing it right now, aren’t you??).

2. The biggest reason that I was broke most of the time during college is that I was drunk almost constantly.

3. On Wednesday afternoon, the very fact that several high school classmates of mine (Lorch, Savel, and Knitt included) are or soon will be married had me in stitches. STITCHES, I TELL YOU..!

4. If you’ve looked at the link on my front page about saving the Internet and read up a little on Net Neutrality, I just got a message that the House is voting on the vital bill next week. Follow this link to find the contact info for your Congressman, then get in touch and ask them to vote “no” on the COPE telecommunications law if it doesn’t protect Net Neutrality.

Have a good weekend; if you’re at David’s grad party, I’ll see you there…

What Did YOU think of X3?

Went to a midnight showing of the new X-Men? movie, kind of on a whim.

I put in a brief review on IMDB, which is something I never do. Here’s what I had to say:
I give it a ‘3’ out of 10 for the effects and exciting fight scenes. Other than that, I don’t remember ever having seen a movie before where all the meaningful dialogue and plot points were able to be condensed within the trailer. That’s what this movie was — a 104-minute trailer that lacked any significant story, character development, or dramatic elements.

The new (or sometimes newly involved) characters could not have been any flatter if they were penciled on a 4-panel comic book page. A story that, at the start, seemed like it would evoke some thought on racism and human rights (in the X-Men? tradition) literarly went up in a puff of ash and degenerated into an excuse for the final throw-down between Magneto’s ‘brotherhood’ and the NeXt-Men?. If they make another one, I really hope Bryan Singer Returns; he seems to have a much firmer grip on what these people can be about.

… My judgement– if you’re a fan, you’ll probably feel you need to see, but I wouldn’t waste 8 bucks on it.

Days Off are Good In Most Ways

Hey

I posted some pics from Lorch & Jamie’s wedding over the weekend in a brand-spankin’ new gallery. Take a look, and I left it open for other people to upload if you want to post any of yours…

Meanwhile, I have a lot of crap around the house to catch up on with the rest of my day off before going back to work tomorrow, so that’s all I can give to ya.

How was your weekend?

Oh– and for those of you who were wondering, Christy is now in MKE.

From Hot-lan'a

I dunno why Josh had such foreboding cautions in regard to the Atlanta airport. To me, it seems like lots and lots of other airports that I’ve been to– and this one is better than some; at least you can get food and beverage behind security…

Right now, it’s about 2:20 eastern, and I’m waiting for Wordy to get here from L.A. I took a walk down to the gate where our flight is leaving for Fort Myers a little later in an effort to get seat re-assignments so’s we can sit together on the way there. But of course, no one was at the counter yet. I guess it can wait.

Something that won’t be able to wait much longer is my need to pee. But before that, I leave you with my Top Five Favorite Airports That I’ve Actually Been To…

1. Minneapolis/Saint Paul: unparalleled options for commerce while waiting for your connecting flight, and good accomidations overall.
2. Milwaukee: Maybe it’s just from familiarity, but it’s relatively small, simple to get around, and also good services, etc, within
3. Denver: Really, really long and straight, but a lot to do, and lots of windows to see out
4. Chicago-O’Hare: I definitely don’t remember disliking O’Hare for any reason. It’s frickin huge, though.
5. Bozeman, Montana: 5 gates, 1 restaurant, lots of breathing room. Nuff said.
